• The Latin American Spanish version of World of Warcraft is gearing up for release and will be available for purchase starting next Friday, July 25. See the press release and FAQ for further details.

  To celebrate the release, we’ll be holding a launch event in Plaza Satelite, a mall located in Estado de Mexico, on July 26 and 27. We’ll have activities to participate in and prizes to win, and you’ll be able to meet members of our Latin American team and other Blizzard Entertainment employees. Universidad #697 en México, D.F. Esta es una excelente oportunidad para conocer a algunos miembros del equipo de desarrollo de World of Warcraft y obtener su autógrafo.

• We've just released a preview of the achievement system, one of the many new features that World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King will introduce to the game. Player achievements will offer new challenges, satisfy goal-oriented players, allow others to see your accomplishments in World of Warcraft - and are just plain fun.

• After several weeks of intense competition, the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament's second qualification round has come to an end. The qualifying teams from the second qualifier will join those from the first to face off in their respective regional finals. Regional finals will be held in the coming months in Boston, Madrid, Seoul, and Taipei. For more information on the tournament, please visit our Arena Tournament information page. • The newest issue of the World of Warcraft comic book series from WildStorm will arrive in stores tomorrow, July 16. • We're always on the lookout for eye-catching screenshots of World of Warcraft. Do you have a screenshot that would make other people go "Wow!"? Send it in. We've been really happy with our screenshots of the day and would like to thank you for your great submissions (over 1,350 and counting). We particularly enjoy screenshots featuring humor, creativity, or large gatherings.

• Today we opened the Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt-In program, which gives players a chance to win an invitation to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King beta. For The Burning Crusade beta, we randomly invited players from the entire World of Warcraft community. With the Opt-In, our goal is to strengthen the beta-testing process by inviting only those players who have expressed active interest in participating.
  
  Keep in mind that opting in doesn't guarantee you'll be selected for the beta. And players who've previously been promised beta access through a promotion or contest (such as by purchasing the Dell XPS M1730 World of Warcraft Edition notebook) don't need to worry -- you'll still be entered into the beta automatically when the time comes.
